I wanted to share a recent experience I had volunteering with OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation.
From a Head of Design perspective, it was a powerful reminder of how design thinking extends beyond products — it’s about solving real problems with creativity, empathy, and efficiency. Seeing how OzHarvest turns what might otherwise be waste into meaningful impact for people in need reinforced for me the importance of designing systems that are both sustainable and human-centred.
It was a humbling and inspiring day, and a great reminder that the work we do — whether in design, marketing, or operations — can always connect back to bigger outcomes for our community.
